STRELITZIA CAUDATA

Description: Caudata is a very difficult plant to find, they grow up in the mountains of Swaziland, South Africa. On occasion, when collectors have gone to find seeds, they have already been taken by natural predators or are stale because of the wet weather. I have found that these seeds are the most expensive and hardest Strelitzia to obtain. We are undertaking large plantings of this variety to get a constant supply.
Can be used as a house plant, has large leaves just like the Nicolai.
Plant Availability: Very limited at this time.
Height: Tall, banana-like tree up to 8m high. with a fan shapes crown. It has a long - tail like tip on the end of the leaf.
Origin: South Africa
Location: Swaziland, in high altitude steep terrain and grassland.
Flowering: Large boat-dark blue shaped bract (spathe) 45 cm long, blue and white petals.
Culture and Propagation: The same as all Strelitzia Nicolai and Reginae.
